HAPPINESS THROUGH APPRECIATION!

Since 1963

Well actually this is a brand new campaign to spread kindness and help people create happier lives, communities and a happier world! But I started in 1963. That’s when I was born. My name is Joseph Segal. I was born the year of the Cuban Missile Crisis when people were seriously thinking we could see the end of the world as we know it.  It was a scary time. But humanity and peace prevailed!

Since that day the world has seen more conflicts, wars, violence and troubles but we have made it. All of us made it through the big crises and the more personal ones each of us face every day and overcome.  Life is hard. Sometimes it’s scary. But it’s also beautiful! People are kind, caring, compassionate generous and inventive. So I have hope for us all.

And I see the good. I see the good in people I know and people I meet every day.  Even the ones who see the world very differently on most things than I do are essentially good people going through their own trials in life. I see that on their faces too as I go around town and see working people struggling to get through another day at jobs they dislike, dealing with impatient sometimes rude customers.  And I wanted to reach out and say hey! You matter! You’re going to make it!

So I created these cards that let people know they are appreciated. And from the moment I gave someone the first card I noticed something wild happened! Their eyes sparkled. They smiled from ear to ear and seemed to come to life right in front of me. And 9 out of 10 people said the very same words. “You just made my day!”.

Imagine that. Such a simple thing as saying thank you, I appreciate you, that made a persons entire day better. So  I gave out more cards and people were touched, they were emotionally moved. One guy could barely bring himself to say anything he must brought his fist to his heart and tapped it several times in a salute and smiled. He say “hey man you don’t know how much this means to me!”

I felt great. I felt I made a person’s life better. And they felt good too. Appreciation is very powerful! And I also broke out of my comfort zone, put down my cell phone, and started talking with people more. And the more I did, the more I felt alive! So I think that’s what we need. We need more kindness wouldn’t you agree? More real human kindness and conversations.

I think that’s all you really need to know about me. I hope you get your own cards from us. We’ll send you a set every month. Give at least one out a day to someone and sincerely let them know why you appreciate them. Let us know what happens.
